A Moment in a artists life

Welcome to a moment in an artist life where

I will be sharing different stories of my journey and process for creating music

The First Story is title Frequency

A simple little song I just wrote, and the experience of how it came about.

Although this is not within my sound meditation music style, this song is a singer-songwriter acoustic guitar style song. I’ve included some background information to the different aspects of this journey .

Enjoy!

Thank you for listening

The original recording took place in my Honda Pilot car, using a Shure stereo microphone MV-88 connected to an iPhone with a simple recording program (App). It was captured in two-track stereo and mixed in my home studio with Ableton Live on a Mac Pro laptop, while listening through Yamaha studio speakers. The acoustic guitar has a beautifully natural yet slightly distorted sound, which adds character because it’s front is coming unglued and rattles—I’m reluctant to fix it. This guitar is an Ovation Celebrity, the very first Ovation I bought for myself at the age of 19, and it has now been with me for over 30 wonderful years.

I don’t often write singer songwriter type songs, but this came out at the beginning of the year.

I wrote this song in a stream-of-consciousness style—just turned on the mic, started playing and singing, and this is what flowed out. It was January 4, 2026, I recorded it while playing my guitar in my SUV , parked

at Leadbetter Beach, Santa Barbara, CA at night.

Initially, I had a few people in mind while I was singing, but after listening to it a bunch of times, it grew into something bigger. It’s a heartfelt thank you to everyone in my life, including my furry friends, the sound bath meditation community and all who have connected with me through the music I create—or that comes through me—and who have shown me love and support along the way.

“You are my frequency”

This live version was recordeed a few days later and features my friend Barbs.

We met at Shoreline Park in Santa Barbara, CA and sat on a bench looking over the ocean and recorded this version.

In the background you can hear the children playing in the park and people walking by and at times the wind blowing are cars going by.

This is the second time we played it and my third time singing it.

For recording I used a Zoom H3 microphine
